    and the list goes on……………….and on…………..and on……………and on………….ad nauseum.

  2. Oregontea says:

    Democrat=liberal=communist.

a socialist is only a commie lite. Less filling, even less satisfied.

  3. Heza Fraud says:

Of course, progressives really get annoyed if you suggest they bear any sympathies to communism.

That's because they're severely allergic to the truth. Progressives Communists who get too close to the truth risk anaphylactic shock.

My father gave me some advice back when I was teenager and got dumped by my first serious girlfriend. I asked him, why did she do that to me, I can't figure it out or understand her no matter how hard I try?

He looked at me and said, 'Are you really that dumb? Only a fool tries to understand a woman. You will drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what a woman thought."

I think the same can be applied to progressives.

The ideology is always 'progressing' because it is amorphous. It stands for NOTHING. It is about the ends. The means don't matter.

    Progressives want what they want.

    End of story.

      Well said.

But it does stand for something – it stands for STATISM and there are just many roads to get there – socialism, fascism, communism, progressivism, etc. For many the means don't matter; for others, they do and that's when the Left fights amongst themselves.

But the amorphousness of it is also for protection – because Americans rejected Progressvism 100 years ago. And so in the 30s, they came back as "liberals", forcing the real liberals to change to "conservatives" (which has a more negative connotation to it) and to later add "libertarians". They hide the ball and lie.

Frankly, I think we should start going back to the real meaning of words and stop using "conservative" and even "libertarian". "Classical liberal" will do quite nicely.

      • Joseph_of_Steel says:

i often lament the left's ability to take a word….and change the meaning.

        liberal is the primary example.

social justice is an another. classical social justice is doing ALL that YOU can so as NOT to be a burden on your neighbor (society)…..that is what it meant to the greeks.

now, social justice is the opposite.

        • ladykrystyna says:

"i often lament the left's ability to take a word….and change the meaning."

It's one of their greatest strengths. And it makes them dangerous. Over 100 years they have managed to create a world where up is down, left is right, freedom is slavery, lie is truth.

"Social justice" – uuughh, don't even get me started on that one. I get the willies every time I hear it.

          • Joseph_of_Steel says:

            how about 'fairness"?

            the progressive meaning:

you are in a race with Usain Bolt (he has more ability, trains harder, wants it more, etc). He kicks your butt. Next time you race he has to carry a 75 weight on his back. He beats you again, but just by a stride. Now it's fair!

            • ladykrystyna says:

My kids do the "it's not fair!" thing all the time. But they are kids. It's what kids do. Hearing adults do it is pathetic.

Pursuit of Happiness, not Mandated Happiness.

              Equal OPPORTUNITY, not Equal Results.

But again, this doesn't matter because really those phrases don't really mean that the Left wants "fairness" or anything like that. They use the words to manipulate us. What they really what is a utopia where they rule over everyone else.

  5. ChoomGang says:

Only a semanticly challenged liberal, confuses the terms socialist, progressive, NAZI, or communist.
Those not thusly challenged, know they are all about a powerful central government, controlling the means of production thru outright takeover or threat of takeover, and a constant stream of edicts, laws, and "suggestions" on how to live our lives…

  6. ladykrystyna says:

Thus, I’m compelled to ask: Is this “progressivism?” Is progressivism synonymous with liberalism, or is it much further to left, closer to communism?

I plead with progressives: This is your ideology … Could you better define it, if that’s possible? Or is the definition of progressivism always progressing? Actually, it is always progressing; that’s precisely the problem with this train-wreck of an ever-elusive ideology. The Nation’s list of leading American “progressives” is truly a teachable moment.

I think Progressivism is a form of American Fascism. The OPs loved Mussolini, Hitler and Stalin. But Fascism is just a slightly to the right form of communism where private property is kept private, but heavily regulated and controlled by the state. Plus, Fascism also has a "nationalistic" bent (a reason why uninformed morons often say that fascism is "right wing"), but not in a good way. Ultimately it's STATE UBER ALLES for both fascism and socialism/communism.

  7. ladykrystyna says:

But the author of the article was correct – it's ever evasive because the OPs learned early on (and their progeny were also taught this) – Americans, when fully informed, reject progressvism, fascism, socialism and communism. And so the goal is to obsfucate, hide the ball, sneak, lie, cheat, etc. That is why they say they are not into "ideology" and they use it as a negative for the right. See Jonah Goldberg's new book for a discussion on that one.

They do have an ideology and it is more broadly known as STATISM. There are many roads to get there and that is usually what the Left is arguing about amongst themselves – fast, slow, peaceful, violent, full communism, fascism, etc. etc. etc.

I like that this article basically called them out on this "list". I'll be bookmarking this page and using it whenever another lefty tries to "hide the ball".

    • ChoomGang says:

      Their motto is "FORWARD" ..
So they never have to look back on the damage and destruction their policies have wrought.
So they never have to honestly examine their basic philosophy of big government as god and a shifting, living breathing set of "morals thru relativity"…
Sick bunch and not to be trusted a friends, business associates, and especially as "governors"..

      • ladykrystyna says:

Very true. The Left's whole thing is to ignore history and just "move forward". "Progress". But as Calvin Coolidge wisely said, you can't progress past the Declaration of Independence. Neither can you progress past the Constitution. Both are the epitome of what man can offer in terms of freedom in this world.

There is no such thing as "heaven on earth".

        • ChoomGang says:

Too bad Progressives NEVER learn from the past or listen to those who paved the way with good workable ideas.
Even FDR was against public union "collective bargaining".
He felt the populace would never accept being told constantly and selfishly, by those who they pay (workers), how much to pay them and what the benefits would be . (With a bad entitled attitude.)
The recall in WI let that cat out of the bag.

Much to the dismay of the corrupt union bosses.
