    Wednesday morning, Nov. 7th.

    • Duuuuh says:

The path to January 21st, 2013 is a longer and more treacherous road that has to be traveled.

    • I_Me_Mine says:

      Wednesday morning, Nov. 7th.

I'll be in one of two places:
A jail cell because of way too much celebration activities due to fireworks, that are against city ordinance, along with public drunkeness, or:
In bed, sleeping it off, because I controlled my emotions.
Either way is fine by me.

  2. TanksSherman says:

sigh…..the constant photos baracky and holder in sidebar ads wear on me. Can't wait until the photos are of those two cuffed and being frog marched across the rose garden and into the waiting prison bus for the trip to Leavenworth.

    • Oregontea says:

If you use Firefox as a Browser, you can just hit a button and all internet ads disappear, for good.

It is wonderful, no pop-ups no side ads, nothing, just pure content.

      • Cowboy Logic says:

Well don't keep us in suspense.

What button do we need to hit?

        • Oregontea says:

Go to the top left corner of the screen. It will have an orange tab, click, go to the right side and see add-ons, go to help and click onrestart without add-ons. That should do it. it has been a while forme, so if that doesnt work, go to firefox help and ask, it is therealso. No ad banners, no side ads is the most wonderful feature. Also firefoxhas spell-check on every screen. I even seem bright withoutmisspellings.

  3. GaltFan says:

I'm thinkin' that my garden has passed from near failure to potentially decent despite a drought and adverse soil conditions.

Learning is the only means for progress, be it simply a need for garnering greater understanding or correcting for past mistakes…

    • Cowboy Logic says:

"Learning is the only means for progress, be it simply a need for garnering greater understanding or correcting for past mistakes…"

That sure is an election year bumper sticker.

      • onecornpone says:

That sure is an election year bumper sticker.

Maybe… if you drive one of those fancy motor coach homes on wheels, or a tractor trailer… otherwise it's a mite long-ish, don'cha think?;-D

        • Billyb9 says:

Or a tractor, which Galtfan will need in a few years if his gardening finesse keeps improving.

          • onecornpone says:

It better be one of those with zero turning radius, for that grand plot of ground…

  4. onecornpone says:

There are some among us who have been touting the idea that WE THE TEA should disengage from attempting to have any influence on Mitt Romney's choice for VP. Frankly I am appalled at that idea. I strongly disagree, that it is a personal decision for only the Romney team to make. A VP of a corporation may be a personal choice of his boss, however, the VP of the U.S.A. is just as public a position as that of the President.

I agree with the premiss that it is desirable for the VP candidate to compliment the Presidential candidate, however looking down the road eight years, the VP is likely to become the parties next presidential candidate. Do we really want to risk someone like Condi Rice, unknowns like Rob Portman as the uncontested nominee in 2020? Hell, I've even heard Ron Paul's name being bandied about. GET REAL!!!

If not for his failing health, Dick Cheney should have been the (R) party presidential candidate this year. A Condi Rice, or Chris Christie is never going to be satisfied to serve as VP, then fade away into obscurity. Would Palin have served as Lame Mc John's VP, then happily stepped back for a stable of other (R) candidates to run for the presidency? Hell no! The VP job is a snore, and serving eight years is considered an investment in their own future run for the office.

Another reason to make the effort to select the 2020 presidential candidate now is the opportunity to avoid the destructive primary process, perfectly demonstrated this year. Many very good politicians, who would have been decent Constitutional proponents were bruised and bloodied to the point they will never be able to hold a political office (example: Herman Cain). Do we really want to consider going through this process every eight years? IMO there is just too much to lose.

    • Cowboy Logic says:

"Do we really want to consider going through this process every eight years? "

      I do.
All part of the culling process.

Besides, it is more entertaining than Dancing With The Stars.

    • I_Me_Mine says:

      OCP,
The VP choice is not one based on 'smarts' or electability after 8 years. History tells us that.
I give you Gore and Biden as examples. They are both dumber than building a mud fence during a rain storm.
Should 'we' have a say in the matter.
      Abso-freakin-lutely.

      • TanksSherman says:

That same history also informs us that perhaps it would be to our advantage to actually choose a Veep that can be ready to run for the office after four or eight years.

        • I_Me_Mine says:

          Perhaps.
The only time that happened recently was HW. He gave Reagan the souhern support he may have needed.
The VP has to be a regional pick that draws in support from so called 'swing states' that puts the nominee over the top in a region or specific states.
For Mitt-ney those states are Ohio and Michigan. Maybe Pennsylvania and Virginia.
          Otherwise the VP is meaningless.

          • Dwight Fry says:

Romney already has Michigan ties. It may not help though, with the strong union influence and Detroit, the city that doesn't even have republicans on the ballot for local races.

            • I_Me_Mine says:

Romney barely won the Mi. primary. He definately needs help there.
As far as Detroit goes, I say we get it over with and see what Canada will give us for it. Ah, they probably don't want it either…

      • onecornpone says:

Gawd, I M M… Get off the commieCRAT plantation. Since when do their candidates have any precedent in our thought patterns.

Cheney would have been an awesome Prez candidate, but for his failing health.

The VP choice may not be one based on 'smarts' or electability after 8 years, but perhaps it should be.
        .

        • I_Me_Mine says:

          OCP,
Really? I'm not on any plantation, especially the pinko commie infestation that has riddled our country for the last 80+ years. I'm sick of it. I'm also tired of having to choose between someone like McLoser and now another lib with an R beside his name.
If I haven't made 'that' clear enough, I'll say this:

The RNC is joke. One big effing waste of donations. I'll tell you why. Over the last 3 weeks in the mail I've rec'd 4 requests for donations addressed to my wife taken from the voter rolls. I know this because her maiden name was used.
She votes D. Always has as far as I know.
I have yet to get one mailing.

          • onecornpone says:

Sorry I M M… I was just blown away with your examples of Gore and Biden. I feel at our worst, the Right is better than that by a country mile.

I agree on your assessment of contributing to the RNC, however I will repeat, until we begin funding the Republican party, we will have no input. Money talks!
            .

            • I_Me_Mine says:

              OCP,
I rarely drink tequila. I did not mean to lump our great Dick Cheney in. I love him. Remember the i-view that Chris Wallace did at his ranch in Wyoming about two years ago? Great interview.
But if you go back and look at Agnew, Ford, and the guy that forgot how to spell potato…he was so vanilla, I can't even remember his name right now.

    • AZVick says:

I understand your point, onecorn, but the process you are laying out – whoever is VP now gets the nomination in 2020 – is precisely what is wrong with the GOP. That's why the old guard GOP served us up Romney – because it was considered 'his turn' by some group of out of touch, power hungry, elitist politicos who decided they knew better than we the people who gets on that ticket. Look at that fossil McCain. Exactly WHAT was compelling about that candidacy? But it was his turn so he got the nomination.

In no way do I think we should not influence Romney’s pick. Clearly, the Condi trial balloon is being floated because the Romney camp wants to get the pulse of the public on the pick. It could also be a red herring. Who knows? But two things are clear. She ain’t it yet and no matter who the Veep is, Romney gets my vote. Period. And for him to win, that’s the way we all gotta do it come November 6. All of us.

In answer to your question do we want to go through this every eight years? Hell, I’d do it every four years if it means getting the right guy (girl) in office. It’s never anyone’s ‘turn’ in my view and if the tea party has anything to say about it, come 2016 Mitt must prove himself worthy all over again. And the Veep pick? Same thing. Every candidate, every politician has to earn his keep every single day in office. The days of taking us for granted are over.

      • TanksSherman says:

"whoever is VP now gets the nomination in 2020 – is precisely what is wrong with the GOP." As you know, neither Romney or McLamy were Veeps. What is wrong is failing to look ahead far enough to take eight, twelve, sixteen or more years of power away from the statists. Think Romney/Ryan…..

        • AZVick says:

Not a thing, Tanks, wrong with looking ahead – but the looking ahead must be done at the behest of the voters who decide who the right man for the job is and who the political climate calls for, not some arcane group of elites. Enough of that. The establishment has got to go. And their MO along with it.

Paul Ryan, of course, would be an excellent choice to groom for prez – though what a waste of good political brain power and muscle in that position. But he has to earn it from we the people. The bitch about Romney and McCain from the conservative blogosphere was that they were the party's choice because they'd been waiting in line and coming up through the ranks – not because they were the best man for the job.

ANyway, I think you get my drift. Thanks for your input.

      • onecornpone says:

NO doubt, we will vote for Romney, however, you made my point AZV, within your answer…

Hell, I'd do it every four years if it means getting the right guy (girl) in office.

We didn't get the "right" guy, we got Romney. We ain't gonn'a like Romney… that I guaran-damn-tee ya.

While people like Cain, Perry, Santorum et.c have been flung out of the loop, the Elite Ruling Class RINOs are controlling the selection process, and having more frequent primaries only eliminates more of the choices that might not sit well with them. Our candidates get chewed to smithereens, and the "it's his turn" method continues unobstructed in 2012. I'll see your Mc Cain, and raise you a Bob Dole…

This year's primary process did not serve WE the TEA well, IMO.

Edit: … whoever gets the VP nomination now gets the nomination in 2020 – is precisely what is wrong with the GOP.

I disagree! What is wrong with the GOP is all the LIBERAL folks that run the party through their large donations. Until WE the PEOPLE begin funding the party, we will never have the input we desire.

  5. Billyb9 says:

With all the accusations of outsourcing going around, I came up with an idea… Why not, just for a few election cycles, completely outsource the governing of the country to India? -Understood, it will still be under the direction of the US citizen, but the leadership of the country has been under the whim of the few crazies in Washington for so long, the USA isn't even recognizable to the US citizen anymore anyway.

So we sit a room full of administrator types, hand them a copy of the Constitution, and tell them to strictly adhere to that or they don't get paid.

    Hmmmmm…..

    • TanksSherman says:

      LOL! ……sorta.

    • GaltFan says:

I sorta agree – Like Tanks… Intriguing idea… Don't get paid, eh? Not feasible, but interesting…

    • onecornpone says:

ROTFLMAO!!! Me thinks it's time for a machineist for Prez.

Do it by the specs or YOUR FIRED!!

      Sort'a Donald-ish… I damn well like it.

If there is one thing Indians do well, it's read the manual…
      ; )

    • Red47 says:

You are working independently of your campaign manager. It is a good thing. You don't need a TOTUS!

      • Billyb9 says:

I'm so sorry Mrs. Manager! I'll be sure to run my ideas past you in the future, before I express them. I already done away with the Cabnet idea and am currently trying to fill 5000000 Czar positions.

TOTUS. Yes, by executive order, all Teleprompters are to be sold for scrap-
er- Manager, do you think it's a good idea..

Well anyway, I write key words on my palm. I think I should be able to get away with that.

        • Red47 says:

I think I’ll manage commensurate to my salary.  You are right about the notes on the hand.  People will only notice once.

    • sistyugler1 says:

That wouldn't work. When they need to call the Help Desk, they'd have to call themselves……..and, they wouldn't know the answer………so, they'd try to fake it and speak with a heavier accent…………and……….oh wait….it might work.

  6. TanksSherman says:

One little cherokee purple is nearing ripeness. Damn heat has really stifled production….seven plants and only about four dozen maters…..pathetic. Finally had a few bees come around today for a visit with the cukes…..been about thirty start and croak before polination.

    • Red47 says:

      Eat the blooms?

You can shake them around each other can't you? And please post the video!

      • TanksSherman says:

Actually, to my understanding the pollen becomes sterile around 95 degrees Farenheit. Last thursday it was 106 degrees…..

I employ the use of an electric toothbrush…..the throw-away kind to stimulate the release of pollen.

        • Red47 says:

I did not know that about pollen.  The toothbrush…lots of work.

          • TanksSherman says:

I had been wondering why some years the blossoms would drop and other years the fruit production would be heavy……. finally found the likely culprit…excessive heat. There are some hybrid varieties that pollinate in the heat but I prefer the heirlooms for the most part. Yes, the brush can be a bother…we have had fairly steady wind this summer so other than a few occassional shakes of the cages, no toothbrush so far.

Thanks to the little honeybees, cukes are growing!

Meanwhile, we up here are having the coldest July on record. In the 9 years I've been in this house, I have always shut my furnace completely off in April for the season, and don't switch it on untill sometime in October. It's July now, and I've actually run it briefly a couple times in the last week.

  7. I_Me_Mine says:

I'm fixin' to watch "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance".

    • Red47 says:

      LOVE it!

I watched a movie my husband recommended with Duvall And Caine. "Secondhand Lions". Very well written, acted, etc. Loved it. I AM getting older..so maybe that's why I liked it so much!

      • Billyb9 says:

Age is only in the mind
Age is only in the mind
Age is only in the mind
Age is.. well… um… what was I thinking again?

        • Red47 says:

Your mind sounds about 14 there?

          • I_Me_Mine says:

I had a hit and run by the alinskypunk (post and delete). He said John Wayne was a terrible actor.

            • Red47 says:

Yuck.  Sorry.  John Wayne was a character actor who starred as his character.  He always had work.  I think that is a good measure of skills. He did not spend his days on the hit and run troll circuit. ;)

  8. Markg55 says:

Put two Boston Butts on the smoker. Roughly eight pounds each. I smell like a campfire. Kickin back with a Makers Mark, neat of course.. As soon as the smoker gets up to 225 degrees I'll call it the evening.
