well… I know one idiot who didn't make it to where he is on his own. In fact, if he was really judged by his own abilities he'd probably be a vacuum cleaner salesman or a vending machine repair technician.
Instead, he lives somewhere in Washington DC.
Easy there, people who sell vacuums and repair vending machines actually add to the economy. The preform vital functions in society.
Community organizers do not. The are the blood suckers of the economy. Politicians are blood suckers as well.
I wouldn't trade 10 community organizers or politicians for 1 good vending machine repairman, especially if I wanted a Snickers Bar.
so what do you think obama would be doing if he had to get a real job? Leech rancher? Toad hunter? Mushroom tester?
I think he would make a terrific septic tank pumper. He would be in his element.
Spoken like a true academic, one who has never "done" anything in his whole life.
When someone starts a business, he/she gives up all kinds of other opportunities, money and time. It is a gamble of sorts, a gamble on ones own abilities. It takes far more courage to leave the job at the 7/11 and strike out on ones own than one who has never attempted it can imagine. Sleepless nights, second guessing decisions, hoping you made the right one and paying dearly when you didn't.
Yup, obama, it comes from someone else. Sure.
The money gained from success is EARNED, EARNED through sweat of blood and many tears.
That is why these entrepreneurs do not want to give it to you, obama to fritter away, to give to those who would never take a chance to spend on cheetos and beer watching cable tv.
This is exactly why YOU obama need to go. Why I will trust my country to Romney before you. He has been in many of our shoes and he has succeeded there. He may have had some help, but he also made a payroll with his own money as well.
Oh, and one more thing.
One who has made a payroll is far better at choosing talent for employees than one who hasn't. This is precisely my point in a comment earlier today.
obama doesn't have the ability to choose good advisors because he just has no idea what to look for in a man/woman. The man who pays their help out of their own pocket looks for the best help for the buck he can find.

There was a great teacher – who was paid a salary for his time and effort. The money for that salary came either from your parents, who wanted you to have a primary education, and yourself, who wanted a secondary education. That teacher's help was fully compensated for, and did not come with any lifetime obligation for support. That help is fully bought and paid for.
Yes, somebody invested in roads and bridges – the person through his taxes, his parents through their taxes, and perhaps most importantly, his customers through their taxes, so they could have easier access to the goods they want to purchase. That infrastructure is fully bought and paid for.
Yes, government research did make the internet. That research was paid for by, one more time, the person through his taxes, his parents through their taxes, and the customers through their taxes. Again, being bought and paid for they are now actually entitled to enjoy the yield from their investments.
And let us take extra note of those benefits for the customers.
If the businesses had to build the roads and such all on their own, of if they have to maintain them all on their own, then they would have to raise their prices to cover the additional costs. The customers gain lower prices on all goods for their investment, as well as the additional jobs created to supply these businesses with the goods they produce. Those benefits extend to those teachers, great or otherwise, that helped along the way as well.
So yes, the entire thing was a group effort, to which everyone contributed, and from which everyone benefits.
It is sheer pretense, and dishonest pretense at that, to assert that only one group benefits from infrastructure and education, and expect that group to produce and maintain it all without the cost ultimately being passed along.

There was a time when a great deal of the infrastructure was privately owned. You have to pay a ferryman to get you, your horse, your goods, your wagon across the river. Then there were the folks who owned the toll roads which were usually the passes around difficult terrain,like Mt. Hood. This still supports your very correct statement that the infrastructure is bought and paid for. For better or worse, we simply pay the govt to run those things now.

The reason I knew this was going to happen. There is a natural built in desire to hear the Truth or be comforted by the Word of God. So the Marxists know this and this type of speech using the mechanics of talking about God, but substituting Government will hit a chord in them, because man is made in the image of God.

With this speech, Obama has opened the door to the debate of how we are to be governed. Do we want to preserve the the foundation upon which our country was founded, the ideology of Capitalism or do we want to succumb ourselves to the wrath of Communism and it's foundation of Marxism.
This is truly what this presidential campaign is all about. This is why it is so essential that Obama must be exposed to the country for what his core beleifs are. He is a communist to the core of his beliefs. He will try to call it something else and use verbage that cloaks it in darkness, we need to shine the light of truth on his words and tell the country what it means for them going forward.
Obama is arguing here for the principles of "collectivism". The same arguement Karl Marx made. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights argues for "individualism". Obama is arguing that since we live within a 'system', no one is fully independent and success is gained through the energy accumulated through the nodes and hubs of the system.
Problem is, he and all leftists, love to introduce systems thinking to economics. But they STOP before fully describing the functioning of a SUCCESSFUL system.
So, then, to Obama's take on business:
Why is everyone not successful? If all the variables in business are of no consequence to success, save for the fact that the economy is a system and therefore no one goes it alone and no one deserves to reap the benefits of business success……
…..what of the failures?
There can no longer be an excuse for NOT being successful then.
Clearly, if YOU haven't attained what you want out of life…..and what we want out of life is provided for by the 'system'….then, by CHOICE…YOU have operated outside the system.
According to Obama's own logic:
Anyone who is NOT successful; has chosen not be.
We have reached a point in time at which fully 49.5% of Americans pay NO federal income tax.
The top 20% of income earners provide 94% of government income tax revenue collection.
Therefore, simple math demonstrates that the SUCCESSFUL are paying, at a minimum, 94% of the cost!
I disagree with Obama's speech, but let's pretend he is correct.
By his OWN principals, meaning, those who are successful should pay more back:
Our current taxation system proves that Obama's demand is fully being met.
Which begs the question:
What is he trying to say?
If the successful are already the ones providing 94% of the income tax revenue; clearly he is demanding that ONLY the successful pay income tax….100%.

The government funded the studies and development of what eventually became the internet.
They did NOT do it so companies could make money off the internet!
They did it to develop a communication system for the military and government agencies.
Innovative entrepreneurs later came along and commercialized the internet.

With the articles I've read, I don't think it's even clear that government even funded the creation of the internet. Some of this came to light recently with the "god particel". Tim Berner-Lees, seems to be credited with the initial theory while working at Cern as an independent contractor. "While an independent contractor at CERN from June to December 1980, Berners-Lee proposed a project based on the concept of hypertext, to facilitate sharing and updating information among researchers."
