Damn, I miss that man.
2nd that!
The ayes have it.
+1
It seems that when we need someone in this nation to step up, we gethim. I am hoping Mitt will do the same.Mitt and Ron both started from fairly liberal roots. Maybe they bothcan end up in the same place. Then again, I still think I can win a lottery,
I'm counting on it. Romney has the potential to be the best President we have ever had. If he can turn this mess around without having a civil war, he will earn his place in the Greatest Leaders of all time.
Yes, he could be transformative….
I'm praying he doesn't wuss-out and decide to go along to get along….
Me too!
Despite my frequent mention of his mincing style of walking, he has the brains, the drive, the moral fortitude (I hope) and the experience. If he listens to the tea party, he might favorably surprise us.
You gotta be out of your fucking mind.
No wonder you have to live in this bubble.
With the dickhead that's in the Whitehouse right now, I miss Clinton…
Have to agree with that too.
At least when Clinton did something under the table it was just forSELF gratification.
and he wasn't too proud to lower himself and play on the carpet with his intern….
Makes me want to cry to see what has been lost in our country since this man left office. GHWB started the long slide down. He may be a nice man, but he isn't a Conservative. I am not the only one who was here for it, I know. But it is sad to see the loss.
True.
Peace through strength worked, one world order does not.
It works for the one…thats in charge.
Yep.
I remember the day President Reagan was sworn into office after defeating Jimmah "Malaise" Carter. What a joyous day it was to feel so proud to be an American. Reagan gave us dignity and sanity after Nixon's resignation and Ford lost to the peanut head.
I remember the caisson rolling down the streets of DC to the sound of the single repeated drumbeat. I could almost reach out and touch it as it went by. I remember the empty boots.
Mostly, I remember that I had freedom and opportunity that I did not have under Carter or Nixon.
What a wonderful memory, Red.
Yes and no. I am one of those people who absorb emotion and that was a very dramatic procession. It sobers me when I think of it. that drumbeat…boom, boom, boom–sent chills up my spine. (no leg tingle, though) I cannot find a vid with that eerie muffled drum beat. It was moving.
I guess, wonderful was the wrong word … moving would have been better. I was just trying to express how touching a memory like that must be… I think, "touching" is the right word to use.
Sigh… the last of the great statesmen!
