      Good Morning VA Rancher,

      How goes the new job?

      • VA_Rancher says:

        Morning Chief,

Does not start until 9/1 officially (my first day at the office is 9/4). But I'm loving it!

I gave notice yesterday, and I also got a rental application for one of my houses that has been empty since 7/1.

My sister in law got a job offer the same day I did, and my mother in law got a new job offer 1 week earlier.

Now if I could only get my little brother a better job in Oregon (he was a small town cop, went to A-Stan got IED and not hurt but is recovering from PTSD and needs ebtter gig) MY PERSONAL econimic world would be AWESOME.

        Be well!

    • onecornpone says:

Heh, heh… Who you think you're foolin' Bubba?

You're just higher'n a kite over that new gig.

      BTW, congrats!

Don't forget the lessons of frugality you learned in the recent past.
They will serve you well. A country boy can survive… can't he?
      Happy Trails!

      • VA_Rancher says:

        Ma'am,

We ALL, especially the pols in DC need to learn and retain lessons in frugality!

        100% agreement!

I am pretty darned happy though!

        Be well!

Just yesterday I heard an update on research and development being done to prevent such contamination. After 15 years much has been learned. Investigation has shown that the contamination originates with E. coli bearing feces from the animals own intestinal tract. I'm no expert, but it seems to me the answer may lie in having the animals gut mostly empty at slaughter. Since animals are bought and sold on weight, feeders and ranchers have always tended to over feed before sale for slaughter.

The latest innovation is a vaccination a few weeks before slaughter. I'm not too sure we need more antibiotics in our food chain. I believe I read last year, slaughter plants have been using some cleaning and disinfecting methods after gutting and skinning, as well. Is that TMI?;-D

    Good morning Chopper,

The 1923 entry is interesting. I sure would like to hear the story behind that one.

    Heads up People!

EPA is taking comments on the Renewable Fuel Standard. For those of you who don't know, this pertains to the Ethanol mandate, which requires that 10% ethanol be added to gasoline refined in the U.S.

After reading the article at http://www.farmfutures.com/story.aspx/epa-issues-... it seems that the way to go about this is to contact our Governor's office to request they speak up on our behalf. Now is the time to get active on this issue, or forever hold our peace. We won't have another opportunity like this for years. Our input can make a difference here. Even if this administration doesn't listen, Romney/Ryan and the new congress will notice the noise we make, and might move on the issue in 2013.

Dumb computer question time. I just got a new CPU and windows7. With my old one when I posted a comment, any replies went to my email box so I'd know someone had replied. Now when they reply it no longer goes to my email so I have to keep checking threads to see if anyone's posted a reply. I know it' has got to be my settings but when I tried to go to my Disqus account it doesn't give me the option to have replies forwarded.

Any suggestions? LOL….I'll check back later. Thanx…

Todd Akin just told Mike Huckabee (on his radio show) that he is NOT pulling out of the race. Is there any doubt now that he was and is a Democrat plant. That dumb-ass Claire McCaskill will remain in the Senate..

    • ChiTT says:

I just thought of a dirty joke but since you are such a fine lady…I'll keep it to myself. (it's about social conservatives)

This Akin clown has got to go. Does Huckabee sound like he feels sorry for backing this fool? I am tempted to write the good Governor a letter and tell him to keep his support to himself next time. Also, the new media is all over Akin's democrat money…

      • sistyugler1 says:

I don't listen to Huckabee's radio program. I had Megan Kelly on the tube when she "alerted" it. He has until 5pm (filing deadline) to see the light.

Is the joke funny? That's all it needs to be in my world. Don't care if it's dirty, clean, nerdy, whatever………just has to be funny. Let 'er rip!
