A page to remember the reason we are all here.
“I do what I do because the mainstream media chooses not to do it. The game of the left controlling the narrative… is ending.”
— Andrew Breitbart on March 01, 2012
“Andrew Breitbart was a force of nature, a jokester, smart and kind. He assembled a group of lost souls who were battling against corruption and became our shield. He took the blows, so we could be heard.” –The Daily Caller 2012-03-06 15:12:00
GOODBYE MY FRIEND
I first heard of the name Andrew Breitbart on the 9th of September 2009 on talk radio. I heard that on the following day, September 10th, there would be a new website called Big Government. I made it a point to find it the following day, and was hooked from the first instant. I went back through the archives, found Mike Flynn’s introductory post, and there I am, on page three of that thread. I’ve been hammering away ever since. Whether it was good, bad, or indifferent, nobody could ever say that I was insincere. But this article is not about me. It is about Andrew Breitbart, and all of you.
What was the immediate appeal of Andrew Breitbart and his BIG sites? I believe it was several things. He caught chained lightning and captured it in a bottle. He was a Don Quixotic character who never shrank from tilting at windmills; but contrary to Don Quixote, Andrew never failed to score, and to slay his opponents, and he did so with a touch of class, sprinkled with varying degrees of humor, dignity and panache. He had the intuitive qualities of a homing pigeon, and always hit the mark with laser guided precision; he had a special knack, a gift, for making all of the right people mad. In reality, sometimes the truth hurts.
Andrew Breitbart was the voice of any man, and of every man. He said publicly what many of you had been thinking, and saying, and feeling for years. He articulated the frustrations of good, common, decent hardworking Americans who have felt for a generation now that they had been forgotten and abandoned by their government and by their elected representatives; a rogue government, aided and abetted by their accomplices and co-conspirators, the Main Stream Media; the Fourth Estate, which had abdicated their roles as gatekeepers of what was true and honorable, in exchange for their thirty pieces of silver and positions of power.
From James O’Keefe and Hanna Giles first exposing Bertha Lewis and the criminal enterprise of ACORN, through Shirley Sherrod and the Pigford saga, right on down the line to Anthony Weiner, with scores of lesser stories interspersed, Andrew continued to fight the good fight for what was right and decent. For the America we all once knew and loved and believed in; an America that is now but a distant dream, a shadow of its former self.
I have never been one who would be much inclined to follow anyone, anywhere. Strong willed people tend to be rather independent in nature, but I would have gladly followed Andrew Breitbart directly into the fiery gates of Hell, knowing full well that it would have been a humorous and truthful adventure. I respected and admired Andrew Breitbart for many things, as he had all of the right qualities, and few wrong ones. Andrew understood everything about The Show, as he had an uncanny knack, an intuition. He understood delivery, and maximum effect, he was truly a born natural. He was indeed, John Wayne on rollerblades, with a larger than life sense of humor. Those are probably the two qualities I admire most in an individual: humor and wit.
One must be entirely honest with themselves and with others in times like these. The first and most immediate question that comes to mind is “What is the Show, without the Showman?” The only honest answer is that the answer is yet to be determined. Andrew has certainly laid the groundwork, and provided the building blocks, yet his legacy is now up to you.
Over the course of the past few days, I have had numerous people ask that I write something here, and I feel compelled to do so; not only for Andrew and his family, but for the many friends I have come to know and love here. Andrew did more than create an interactive web community; he created a family, and it is with a deep sense of loss that this family is now grieving, along with his immediate family.
Things stick in a persons mind. Although young at the time, I remember where I was when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. In my life, I can count the times I have cried on one hand: on the days that my children were born, and the day I learned that Ronald Regan had passed. When I heard the news regarding Andrew, it was initially through a voice mail message. At first, I thought it was a hoax, a sick joke. It wasn’t until I spoke to someone whom I knew I could trust that the realization began to sink in. It was then that I pulled my truck over, sat down in the mud and bawled like a schoolgirl.
Andrew Breitbart might have been a lot of things, and might have done a lot of things. When I close my eyes and think about him, the thing that comes immediately to mind is Roosevelt’s “In the Arena.” It sums Andrew up quite succinctly. I have always believed that when a man comes to the end, if it can be said that he made a difference, then he did good. Andrew Breitbart made a difference. As we say out west: Boy, you did good!
Andrew, adios my friend.

Special thanks to CowboyLogic for sharing his feelings about Andrew with us all.
It is from the heart, eloquent, and part of us all forever.
Hey, I found you guys. Good to see so many familiar faces over here.
Good to see you as well. Make yourself at home and let me know if you need anything.
We were playing Hide-n-seek. Tag- You're it!
What took you so long?
Welcome.
yeah, Canadianlady….welcome
Very good Mr. Logic. Seems like we got ourselves a startup here. I was a little taken aback when I noticed how many Breitbart articles were here, but it's kinda the best of both worlds I guess. Got intensedebate back (hopefully without all the hiccups), and isn't nailed to exclusively Breitbart content. Could be a winner- and I hope you don't mind me joining y'all.
I got hooked on RedEye a few years back, and one of the more interesting guests was this dishevled looking gent who had an odd manner of approaching his point. He made you think what he said through. I found out later that he was the first guest on Red Eye and was probably the reason of the existence of the show in the first place. He announced his website, Big Hollywood, but I never really was interested in the entertainment industry so I never went there. When he announced the startup of Big Gov and Big Journalism, I decided to give them a try. I never was one much for commenting, but the first article I read in Big Goverment enticed me to do so, and I'd been doing so ever since, with most of my commenting still going to Big Government.
It still seems surreal to me- waking up on March 1st- the day of the Big day at the Bigs- though I'm not sure if it was supposed to be the release of the new Website or the vetting video- and Andrews face was on every big site with a passing message. One site- sure it was a joke- but all of them? The second thought in my groggy mind that somebody had to have murdered him. I went to one site to the next trying to convince myself that it was some cruel joke. Then I bothered to read the announcement.
Natural causes my foot. Not at 40 something. They better make the toxicology tests public. And then we better "gird our loins". Obamacare may not be our biggest problem from this administration.
Hi Billy, like you, I find I'm back at ease here and, no, it does not need to be "all" Breitbart. Snort, it wasn't all Andrew from the beginning, that was his thing, find good people and support them, O'Keefe et al. Andrew opened the doors so we could see and here the truth of your last sentence..NOT our biggest problem…indeed.
Billy,
I have read your comments. They are good comments.
Andrew is gone.
If Sheriff Joe Arpaio disappears while walking his dog, and if I suddenly vanish there might be something to your thoughts………….
Thank you, CL. I’m honored.
I’ve always felt like I was playing amongst intellectual giants of the literary world. I try to place points to ponder in quips as usually my grammatical and spelling errors in longer comments create the impression that I’m making an entirely different point all together…. I often felt that commenting on the Breitbart sites was far above my payscale. But you guys continue to allow me to play in your sandbox!
I’ve always had a conspirator’s mind. It’s sometimes funny, sometimes tragic. Kind of like bipolar in a way. One moment I feel appreciated by my employers, the next moment I just know they want to fire me and hire a younger model (particularly if the younger model Is asking for less money..)
I’ve got a few conspiracy theories on Mr. Obama that I commented about through the years, but who knows, we can’t even get past the birth certificate/SSI theft deal. I figure I better keep the better tales to myself….
You are welcome to come here and have your say but keep your language out of the gutter.
It takes me one click to delete your post and one more to block you.
I can do it forever and not even break a sweat.
I'm going to delete this post but I'm not going to block you yet.
If you can keep your post civil I'll be reading them on this site, otherwise – not going to happen.
Thank you for leaving the first version up for now Navy. I find it useful (offensive, yes, but useful) to keep the true voice of our opposition in site. The reason we prefer here is, well we do have TD to balance out those "Most Popular" fluff balls.
Thanks for your thoughts on this but I had to delete it because I said I would.
Tomorrow is another day and I'm sure someone will be more than willing to remind us of the 'voice of our opposition'. Thanks again for your reply.
hmmm, I just made a suggestion under tips for a garbage can, perhaps it could be a "corner of shame" that might be fun and useful?
Also, (I do not feel like replying to Shelia directly) a curious understanding of "always used you" and "making millions off the outrage" ? Shelia is the ??? reason BB went from ID to Dis? My, my, my….so much power in that self-esteem, The One should hook it up as a new power source, oh excuse me, that was to be algae…
A little narcisitic (excuse the spelling) of Helen isn't it? Helen is on a strict diet of platitudes and talking points
Trolls like goats. Don't let her get yours!
Evening Billy. I don't gots no goats no mo, justs me dawg.
You forgot to mention all the great fun liberals had mocking you and exposing all your baloney.
You forgot to mention how I made Breitbart so angry that he decided to leave Intense Debate and change to Diss, thereby putting the final nail in his coffin.
It was so great to see them slam the door in your face after you complained about the new site. They have always used you, and all conservatives, making millions off the outrage they created and you ate up like candy.
Nice work stupid.
You're such a sycophant.
It is an amazing mix of ignorance and hubris. Candidly the handle clearly warns you of the intellectual void about to appear before you even need to consider reading its inane drivel…
Hello VA, who is this one a reincarnation of, livwell or djmcs?
He devotes most of his time to Roger. He follows him like a perverted teenage stalker.
I see that he has four accounts and now recognize him as Rogers pet troll. Looks like he earned Kevin Stowell's ire also. http://intensedebate.com/people/racisttGO
Phttp://intensedebate.com/people/<br< a=""> />GOPracist </br<> shttp://intensedebate.com/people/raciist<br< a=""> />GO </br<> <a href="http://Phttp://intensedebate.com/people/raacistGOP” target=”_blank”>Phttp://intensedebate.com/people/raacistGOP
And all of them are handled badly.
Do you still have my photo on your bedroom ceiling?
Still Helen is a bad girl. With or without meds.
Needs to find love. Perhaps at Wonkette?
I have up to a hundred accounts.
Yes, that's very likely: Malignant, narcissistic and anonymous cowards seem to need a lot of cover to spread their poison and feed their pathetic need for attention. Well, not all attention, judging from some of the shrill responses you pound out.
Damn it felt goooood to thumb your stupid ass down again troll meat. It's been awhile numb nuts.
Welcome to my feast.
Don't you have a mars landing to watch?
Not Over.
"Swearing"?…..Really meat? That's it?
What a pitiful useful baby libtard you are.
From alllllll the sites, over allll over the interTubes, you actually traversed over here to do what exactly? Just prove what and idiot you are? Well, it worked out in your favor meat.
What's more…I don't even feel sorry for you and your ilk…you reap what you sow numb nuts.
Oops…was I too harsh with that?…tough.
I can see Nov. from my house…oh yes I can.
Not Over.
When you're crawling in the mental gutters, you tend to aim low.
Anger? Who's mad? I don't get mad at insects, especially ones that are just images on a screen. Like you. Actually, I find YOU quite amusing, it makes for a great mental image, imagining you running around the keyboard, stepping on the keys with your six little feet. Now, if an insect were to pose a threat, like a wasp that gets into my house, well, getting mad doesn't solve the problem. Squishing it does.
Wanna know who the biggest racists are in the country? People who hide their failed political philosophy behind the color of someones skin. Yup, you leftist Democrats are indeed racist pieces of crap. Some things never change. Well, I guess the Democrat Party did change a bit. They changed their tactics when it comes to enslaving people. Seriously, take any of the essays and writings by George Fitzhugh and replace the word 'slave' with 'American citizen,' and the words 'slave owner' with 'government bureaucrat' and you have the new Democrat strategy. Keep crackin' that whip for the master, Shelia.
Your words are hollow and meaningless, insect. You insects have been playing the race card for years in order to shut people up, but it doesn't work any more.
How much is a gallon of gasoline? Obama is toast. I'm more worried that the Republicans who sweep into office this November will not move the country back to the right far and fast enough. Oh well, We the People will send them packing too if they drag their feet.
And speaking of feet, where do you buy your tiny little shoes? And do they come in six packs, or do you have to buy three pair?
Nazis are left wingers. Big oppressive government control freaks.
Oh, like the conservative House from 2007 to 2011? The current conservative Senate? The conservative who's been in the White House since 2009? Heheh Keep trying to rewrite that history, bugboy.
And the problem with George W Bush and most of the Republicans is that they aren't conservative enough. But that's all going to change.
And now, you're boring me, whip crackin' insect. Same old predictable talking points. Have a nice life. Watch out for windshields, and stay away from open flames, no matter how strong the urge. You're my favorite bug. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you before you make me have to squish you.
I feel worse for your dog. Maybe his master will give him a flea bath.
The rest of your comment is pretty silly, but that last part was a good set up line. Keep it up, and I just may let you live.
SheliaJacksonLeeHERO_is_a_hummin_ho.
I've trained you pretty well. Keep em comin', insect.
Now now, he'll start screeching "U R MAD! I MAKE YOU ANGRY!!" with such imperious tiny fist-shaking and bile-infused spittle if you keep doing that.
Obama was abandoned by his mother who felt she had better things to do.
"…I took down the Breitbart site."
The self centered narcissist, (just like it's master Obambi), is strong in this one alpha don't you think.
It must come from it's hive queen telling it for years that it's "special" from all the other scurrying drones in the libtard hive.
Not Over.
These shit stains aren't worth my time.
Petroglyph knows I took down the Breitbart site. So does Cowboy.
What you did is called 'going down,' not 'tooking down.'
You're right, it wasn't that good, it's just that instead of acknowledging your presence by giving you a thumb down, they just ignored you and gave me the thumb up. See how that works, insect? See, I never waste the effort of giving you a thumb. If I ever use a thumb on you, it will be to check for a pulse. I'd normally just do a double tap, but with homeland security hogging up the ammo supply, I might have to save bullets. Of course, I do have that bayonet ……
If that happens, insect, it won't be a game. Have a nice life.
Helen is on a strict diet of platitudes and talking points
Yup OGD, but the thing is, this one IS special. His 'special' bus is so short, it looks like a phone booth with wheels.
That's good advice at any price!
Do Trolls really have names? I don't pay attention to their names. They really are just a handful of pathetic zit-faced losers working in the bowels of media splatters, or bowel MovementOn with a hundred accounts spewing their smegma all over the web.
GatlFan and I roasted a few trolls back in the day, but I rarely even acknowledge their existance as they are merely a distration, the designated decoy. This is a REAL War. I try to same my ammo for the real enemy.
Be well.
You shouldn't hide your hubris from everyone, go ahead an continue to pat yourself on your back, that seems to be your only talent.
I knew that it would sail right over your head.
Now you have disclosed your age.
Your trap of having someone make you look really stupid?
I wish you would shut your trap.
Helen, your botox is wearing off, you just keep getting uglier and uglier girl.
"Lying" is such a misused word. Be careful.
Helen- are you off your meds again? Bad girl!
Then you're saying maybe she's not a troll, just misunderstood?
Helen is on a strict diet of platitudes and talking points
I like how your first comment on this thread was "deleted by the administrator." Maybe on your tombstone they can put "deleted by di_da_is_alpha." Have a nice day. : )
lols (that's funny)
Your name says it all. And your reply proves you're another liberal troll.
It's great to see some familiar faces.
I can't even remember now how I heard of Andrew Breitbart, but I was on the Bigs from the very beginning as soon as Big Hollywood went up. Andrew was an inspiration. I loved his energy, loved his courage, loved the way he just took it right to the Left. Again, with no fear.
I still can't believe he's gone and it feels surreal.
Thank you Navy Gentleman for starting this. It will be nice to continue to chew the rag with you fine folk.
Krys,
Good to see you.
Great to see you as well.
Hey valentine, good to see you here.
Great site, huh?
NG has done a teriffic job.
Hey, valentine. Great to see you as well.
NG has done a great job! So glad he has done this. I have a feeling we're going to need it.
Hello ladyk, It's good to see you here.
Hey, Swift, it's great to be here and see so many of you again.
Like Billyb9, I first saw Andrew on Red Eye. It was back in early 2008, but I didn't start doing the blog thing till Nanny Pelosi did the walk with the BIG GAVEL after cramming Obamacare down the throat of America. I was pissed. Real pissed. After checking out a couple of ho-hum sites I found myself at the Bigs and was immediately hooked.
But more than just his site impressed me about Andrew. I'm not the kinda guy to keep his big mouth shut when that may indeed be the wisest of options, but Andrew never hesitated to put himself into situations that would have made me think twice. He had the biggest set of Brass Balls of anybody of whom I'm aware. Like von Richthofen's flying circus, Andrew never tried to hide from the enemy, but instead put himself front and center in the line of fire.
If every single one of us who believes in the power of individual liberty and freedom, true freedom, not the left wing version of freedom which to them means 'freedom from responsibility,' if each and every American who knows that conservative values equal American values, would show half the courage Andrew displayed when standing up to the left wing enemies of what is good and right about this nation, then the upcoming fight will be a relatively easy one. Hopefully we can settle it at the ballot box, but if not? Who wants to live a long life as a slave to Government? I won't, how about you?
"Who wants to live a long life as a slave to Government"
Maybe Navy Gentleman has an Island sitting around for us all to settle on if the Marxist take over. There hasn't been, and in my opinion, there still isn't, a country where individual freedom reigns supreme like the United States.
Perhaps we've been taking it for granted for too long.
Perhaps we're going to be put to the test to see how far we're willing to go to keep it that way.
I've never been under the impression that a tyrant could be placed in power in the US. Yet here he is (still in the wanna be stages- notice that he actually states that the reason he's not getting his way is because everybody's standing in his way- oh hell yeah, he want's to take over!) If we ever get this country back to good, we have to remember how close we were to losing it.
Amen Brother, amen.
Thanks for hosting this, Navy Gentleman. I wish that I had seen it sooner.
Indeed, Andrew made a tremendous difference.
Andrew WAS courage. My own journey from well-intentioned-but-misguided-liberal to the independent (fiscally conservative) libertarian that I am today began on the BIG sites. I saw Andrew confront the media, and all of a sudden, I got it. It was like I had been looking at one of those pictures that looks like modern art or just tesselations until you see it from a certain angle, and then WHAM, the content becomes crytal clear. Andrew did that for me. Andrew Breitbart will be missed. Joel Pollak is doing okay, and Dana Loesch is a cool cat, but there is a void. Yes, Andrew Breitbart will be missed. He made a difference. Yes, he "did good".
~Indie76
Drop in and stay in touch. There is always a warm heart and a hot story around here to embrace.
I've been a Breitbart fan since 2009, also–the Bigs had been up and running for maybe 6 months when I tuned in. And am I ever glad I did.
i looked back. I was late. Spring 2010. 112 weeks before now.
Cowboy, you are a very, very good writer.
Thanks Mr Logic. Your description and tribute to AB was perfect, in my view.
I grew to regard him as an overgrown mischievous leprechaun, with a burning desire for JUSTICE!
I joined the Breitbart party when Alpha Andy was about to roll out Okeefe's expose' on ACORN…
Never missed a beat afterward.
YOU are right, Breitbart was one of a kind…
Thank you for this site, Cowboy Logic.
I remember knowing about AB going back to his Drudge days, but I really became more involved with the whole ACORN scandal. I just lurked for a while until Anon (remember him?) said something so stupid I couldn't resist… He said… "Smart people call that fraud". And I had to respond with "What do you call it?" (as a guest). Still my favorite comment.
And I guess I should thank NG, too!
I miss Anon. At least he wasn't a one trick pony. He did love to be beat on.
It was a long 154 weeks ago when I first took a ride on the AB express. I think it was a Drudge link. I have been coming back ever since. Now that the train has run off the track…it looks like we will be finishing this trip on horseback. Cowboy style. He and Navy Gentleman would have made Andrew proud. Now let's finish what Andy started…
159 weeks for me. (Mar 2009?!)
I still try to comment via Disqus over at the Big sites, but since Disqus is blocked by work I can't do that in between calls and my time is limited.
Likin' your style!
I appreciate the e-mail ChiTownTom that you sent me today – 2 June, directing me here to this web site, for which I am excited to know exists. I love the Intensedebate format and the constitutional conservative people who post and blog on it, and fight this battle against the forces of liberal tyranny and oppression evil. That's what Andrew Breitbart would have wanted us to continue doing after his untimely departure from this world, for which he lead the way with courage and bravery not seen by anyone since Ronald Reagan.
Also, I have a website for my conservative political blog postings at TeaPartyPatriot4ever,blogspot.com, for which is my blogger name TeaPartyPatriot4ever, along with TTP4ever.
Every time I read this my tears flow freely. I miss him so much and I am glad that you, Navy Gentleman, started this site.
Six weeks and two days. Something in me is still missing.
we are still waiting for the autopsy report Winston…. anyone seen it? Hidden below the fold, in the advert circular?
When it is released it will be late on a Friday.
and you were right.
Well said. So many weeks later, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
There's a big hole in my heart.
Navy Gentleman, if I may I would like to share what I wrote in the wake Andrew 's passing. https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=1716561...
Thank you.
What you wrote, was eloquent and sincere.
Cowboy, may I share your tribute on my facebook page? – https://www.facebook.com/Breitbrats?ref=tn_tnmn
I read it to my husband this morning, brought tears to both of our eyes, me for the second time. Beautiful, moving and inspiring.
Yes.
Thank you.
DO NOT LET HIS SPIRIT DIE WITH HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE the changes at the Bigs as much as anyone else here, but I urge everyone here to still visit Andrew's legacy. The traffic will help support those left behind to carry the torch. There are still good people there even though their new format stinks. It's still a wealth of information.
Here's what I liked most about Andrew. He took the fight to the enemy without pause, without apology. There are so few conservatives willing to do so.
PLEASE, pick up the torch he dropped the day he was assassinated and CARRY IT FARTHER THAN HE DID !!!
Hello Syrin23 And WELCOME!!!
All of us are in the same mind set. It's not that we wouldn't continues to "visit" the Bigs- many of us still do, and just for kicks and viddles- you can actually post onto the Bigs through the links that Navy Gentleman created.
See- Corporate Bigs kinda forgot something- that there was a solid base of folks who visited daily, if not several times a day. When the switch happened – and even before- a few of us were trying to give shout outs about changes that were simply unexceptable. But to no avail, all channels to the administrators seemed to be cut off. Gone were the open forum, the cartoons, the satire, the wreckless banter between contributers and the commenters… And most of us tryed to be heard. We became the trolls that the Big Bigs wished to wash themselves of. Just try to be heard there- I dare ya!
IN the mean whiile, welcome to the "The Arm Chair Patriots Brigade"! Please hang out awhile and check it out!
I'll be a daily visitor. I hatet he changes at the Bigs. It's sad to see some great articles with 4 comments total. They killed the spirit of the place the day after Andrew died.
Welcome.
Thank you sir!
Cowboy: very nice words written by you about how Andrew affected your life in these troubling times.
Navy Gentleman: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Tanks
I think we all had a healthy respect for AB, simply because no one else could do what he did…even he couldn't. His frenzied single-mindedness for the truth eventually took his life, due to the stress. He was driven in so many ways, and taught us all how to be a beacon for truth for others. May he rest in peace.
I miss Andrew. And something is missing on the Bigs. And I think it is us. Syrin23 is right. This is a good place to be, thanks to Navy Gentlemen, but it's not the only place to be. We have to continue to support the Bigs, no matter how annoying it may be.
CL – glad you did this and glad I found this site. So good to see all the familiar commenters.
Thanks to a post by CHITOWNTOM, I found this site. (Great Site!)
Fantastic Article Cowboy Logic. Andrew made a huge difference. There was a time that I felt so lonely in this world and when I found Andrew's site "BREITBART" I found a lot of comfort. I saw that there were many others who had the same feelings about the present condition of this nation. I am grateful to Andrew and all of his followers for the comfort I found among them.
I miss Andrew. May he R.I.P until the Trumpit sounds.
HI. Have fun here. The rest of us do!
Thank you Red. I am still here….I've been reading all of the articles and great comments. This is a great site.
Welcome Beth.
Thank you CL.
Thank you Navy Gentleman. Very nice site you have created here.
Hello Beth. Make yourself at home and let me know if there is anything you need.
awe…Thank you so much for that. I love this site NG. You have done a fantastic job with its creation. Very clean pages with very important info. And the comments are the best on the net.
Thank you so much!
Thank you Navy Gentleman for this new site. I think it was Petro that slipped the link into a comment over on the new BB site and I would like to thank him. When I first visited the site I believe it was ChiTownTom that welcomed me with open arms. I could be wrong, but I'm glad I found ya'll and look forward to future conversations with you fine patriots and proud Americans. If I've offended anyone on the disqus format I appologize. I would like to share what I felt when I heard AB had passed. Hopefully it conveys the impact it had on me. I believe this tribute thread would be the place to let it out. Better late than never. It is a little long so I will have to split it up.
My brother woke me up that morning with a frantic phone call. I said this can't be true. I turned on the TV and sat dumbfounded as the tributes to this great man rolled. This can not be. I felt the heartache that those in the studio on Fox felt. I still find it hard to accept. Every article, every commentary, every tribute is like a lightning bolt striking. It was strange how quickly it was reported as natural. There was nothing natural about it. How could this guy be gone there is too much to do.
We are in a fight for our country, for our way of life, for life itself. I am proud to say he was my hero. Something that few can claim. I know there are many who will try, but none can take his place. I pray for his family, God protect them and comfort them. Kids your dad is watching out for you. You should be proud of having him as a dad. Do not forget that he gave everything he had in his effort to ensure you grew up in the greatest country in the world. That you had the freedom and oppotunity that he had. That you could prosper and experience the joy of freedom. Take care of your mother in these trying times. Beside every great man is an equally great woman who is worthy of the same respect and admiration as your dad. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Respectfully,
B.
OMGoodness. I have found many of my old friends again. Thank you Cowboy for doing this and writing such kind words about Andrew.
Andrew gave me a format to vent, to learn about the left, and most of all to find the truth. I had the privilege of being apart of the BIGS almost at its inception. I cannot remember how I found it originally, but I knew I was at home when I started using it. It gave me a place to find many folks just like me, very concerned for my country. It also gave me a voice, where I could state my feelings about an issue without condemnation, except for trolls which I consider a badge of honor. Just before AB died, I had pretty much stopped commenting on the BIGS but it was still my routine everyday to read the articles and all of the comments that my friends were making. My life was taking new directions in becoming more involved in the political process, being apart of our County and State Republican Party. My husband is currently running for an office in our county. Something I believe is directly related to the charge of AB's book, "Righteous Indignation- Excuse Me While I Save the World" one of the best books I have read in a long time.
I miss Breitbart…..horribly….but I also know that he gave a charge to us as people who love our country to go out there and make a difference, to not be silent! Silence is deadly and with the loss of Andrew, it spurs us on to a greater purpose, to not be timid, to speak up about issues and hopefully educate a few brain dead folks along the way.
I thank God for the young folks that Breitbart believed in and gave them their start in Journalism. O'Keefe, Giles, and Pollack, the future of journalism. We are only seeing the beginning of this new wave of media and I find that very exhilarating. It is comforting to know that there are young folks out there ready to hit the pavement with Andrews zeal and delight for life.
The day Andrew died, I was in a state of shock….I could not believe it. I only believed it when it finally was posted on the BIGS. I remember crying out loud, "NO, no, no, not now." I felt empty, like I had lost a best friend. I knew there would be a gaping whole in my world for a long time…he is/was my present day hero. I believe he was killed and I know that it will never be proven, but it was just to big of a coincidence for me, the day he was getting ready to release new info on O.
I pray someday that I have a grandson that looks just like Breitbart.
